Child Development Associate (CDA) Online Program

Congratulations on the first step to earning your CDA Certificate! Over the next several weeks and months, the team at Green Space Learning Online will be your support and encouragers along the way to completing this course. Please reach out to us at any point you need assistance.
Upon completion of Unit 1 (less than an hour), your textbooks will be ordered and shipped to your program's location. Please allow 7-10 days for arrival. Additionally, you are required to attend a virtual meeting with your instructor before you will be allowed to advance to Unit 2. You will find this information in your instructor's email.
Are you ready to get started? Just go one unit at a time (all of its content) and before you know it, you will be done!
Welcome! My name
is Nikkeda Tyrone, I am your CDA Instructor for Green Space Learning and
Development. My goal is to make sure you are prepared for class, so I have
included helpful information below.
Syllabus: Located in the first unit. Once Unit 1 is completed, textbooks will be ordered. Read the syllabus for important course information and allow approximately 7-10 business days for the books to arrive to your center. We recommend completing each homework assignment which includes Reading, Portfolio Work and Instructions before advancing to the next unit.
*Note – If books have not arrived, you are able to write down the reading assignment to complete later once books arrive and advance to the next unit, BUT do not advance more than approximately two units.
Class Time: Self-Paced Online (Green Space Learning Online).
There are 20 Units. For the best success, complete the unit, reading and homework (portfolio assignment) before moving forward to the next unit. Each unit directly correlates with the portfolio assignment. Be sure to follow instructions in each unit before advancing to the next unit. These instructions include creating your online CDA Council account, locating a PD Specialist, etc.
Office Hours: Offered weekly on Tuesdays, at 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm via Teams using the link below:
Attend when your schedule allows. Meet your classmates, ask questions and get help with your coursework and portfolio. If you do not have the Teams app, download it or join as a guest. I will notify you in the event of any scheduling changes.
Professional Learning Community (PLC): A professional learning community
has been created to reduce the rigorous reading that can be associated with a
CDA course. This is an opportunity for processing topics with your classmates
to enhance your teaching practices and is part of your 120 CDA hours. The PLC
topics are available as Discussion activities of select units. Simply answer the question, then
respond to one classmate with a thoughtful response. There are 16 online Discussion activities, and you need to attend office hours two times at a minimum, but more if needed. The course units will prompt you to do so.
Teams Video Platform: Watch the following video if you are unfamiliar with Teams. (You DO NOT need to download the app.)

*Upload assignments to the online portfolio as a PDF, photo or screenshot and save them to your computer.
